Adar Gandelsman (Hebrew: Adr Gndlsmn; born on 5 December 1997) is an Israeli model and beauty pageant winner. She was the first runner-up of Miss Israel 2017, receiving the title of Miss Universe Israel, and competed at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant. Adar took part in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, but didn't place. Gandelsman snapped a picture at the pageant with Miss Universe Iraq Sarah Idan. In December 2017, Idan as well as her family emigrated to Iraq because of the outrage of Iraqi citizens over her posing for a photo with Miss Israel who had also been a member of the Israel Defense Forces at the time, Gandelsman is from Ashkelon, Israel, and is the daughter of Ashkenazi Jewish parents who immigrated to Israel from Brazil in 1992. [1][2] Adar (her initial name) is Hebrew for Hebrew calendar month.
